Your equation is wrong. It should be +23.

Also, with the level cap removed the 15,000 (xp needed to level) shouldn't really be a constant, but I'll let you off.

Nice idea, thought about this how GW2 would work, as soon as I heard about the 'possible' no level cap. This would be the way it could work.

But consider this: you logic is based on getting a skillpoint every time you level. But at level 20, your level point is fixed at every 15k. This number is around 3k when you are level 1 or something. So logically, if you rise in level beyond lvl 20, the point at which you level will rise as well.

You'll need to work out a better formula. But by your old formula, I think my monk was lvl 280 or something.

By that formula my Monk is around level 720.

If you take into account the increasing amount of XP need for each successive level, rather than just the fixed 15000 you took you would get a more accurate indication.

Using the formula stated on Guild Wiki and using an Excel spreadsheet I've created a little table which can be used to calculate your virtual level.

This means I'm level 133 by my calculations, and lvl 380 by the OP's calculations

Kalvorn beat me to it...that's what I get for going AFK while writing a post :P

As a couple of folks have pointed out, this formula is wrong. If there were no level cap, then the XP required for the next level wouldn't stop at 15K. The current XP rate that GW has is XP needed for previous level +600xp, i.e. You're level 1 and need 2000xp for level 2. You make level 2, now you need 2600xp for level 3.

If you continued this rate past level 20, the requirements for higher levels get pretty high.

I've got 2.5M xp on my ele. If the level reqs scaled the way they do for below lvl20, I'd be lvl90 and need 55,400xp for level 91. With the 15K cap, I'd be lvl180. Makes a huge difference.

Agreed.
I did that same exact thing a long time ago (made a spreadsheet). It is identical to yours. As with most games, and title tiers in GW, the experience needed for the next tier would indeed increase each time.

We can't assume that GW2 would use the same formula but it would seem to work.

A good friend and former guildie of mine was grinding the kurzick supply run for the friends of the kurzicks title (gives you 2k experience per run)...

Anyways, he was about 80% of the way to the title when he showed me a screenshot where he had over 82 million Exp.

Thats over level 5200!

82M???

I find that hard to believe. If he had 2M when he started grinding and got 2k per run, it would take 40,000 runs to get to 82M. At 15 minutes a run, it'd take over 10,000 hours to reach that.

Ok, maybe he capped every elite on a double xp weekend. ~300 elites * 10K xp = 3m xp. Still not realistic.

I solo farm UW and get ~7k per run. I'd have to do ~ 11,000 runs to get the 79.5 million xp I'd need to catch him. Still almost 3,000 hours at 15 minutes a run. That's a full year of 8-hour days...

Of course, averaging 1 ecto per run....*quits job*

or you could just do the LB run with "a show of force" using the double XP scrolls at the end part.....then you would be able to max out LB, SS, and possibly treasure hunter and wisdom titles at the same time (provided you have enough cash for the picks).
